Cleanser

A Korean cleanser is the first step of a K-beauty routine, made to lift off sunscreen, makeup, sebum and everyday dirt without leaving skin tight. This collection covers water-based cleansers and foams, cleansing oils, cleansing balms, plus a cleansing water and a cleansing milk.

Brands include Pyunkang Yul, Isntree, Mommy Care, Mary&May, Round Lab, OHUI, Ma:nyo and Dear Klairs. Examples range from the beplain Mung Bean pH-Balanced Cleansing Foam to the Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil and the ROUNDLAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser.

How to choose: if you wear sunscreen or makeup, start the evening with an oil or balm and follow with a water-based cleanser. If you wear neither, one gentle low-pH foam or gel is often enough. Our guide, Double Cleansing: When It Helps, When It Is Too Much, explains how to decide.
